When in recovery from an eating disorder, there are a number of medications that can help you along your journey. As always it is important to consult with a psychiatrist or doctor whenever you wish to start a new medication but be aware that there are options and if your doctors don’t mention some of these feel free to bring them up. I find that my family doctor wasn’t aware of how many of these medications might help but my psychiatrist (and eating disorder specialist) prescribed and suggested many of them.

I went into a lot of detail here about the medications I’ve tried, some prescription and others over the counter. Remember, a medication may not work right away, don’t be afraid to give it enough time to work or try another one that may work better. Everyone’s chemical makeup in their brains is different and not all medications (especially antidepressants) work for everyone.
